Julie Davies on Catholic Bloggers

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to Texas last week for the Catholic Writers Guild conference and the Catholic New Media conference. I did hear, however, that Julie Davies of Happy Catholic blog gave an excellent address at CNMC recommending certain guidelines for Catholic bloggers to follow. Considering that we bloggers are part of the public face of the Church, as Davies reminds us, we should heed her advice and always keep in mind the Lord's commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31). If our blogging doesn't point to Christ, in what sense are our Catholic blogs different from other blogs?

Among the many posts of the wide-ranging "Ironic Intellectual" Ryan Shinkel is one on the natural law, "the law written in our hearts" (Romans 2:15). Also recommended is "The Modern Nihilism?" on the perils of contemporary fusions of nihilism and scientism.

National Pony Writing Month

Mr. Darwin took up the challenge of writing a 50,000-word novel for National Novel Writing Month; it's just that he decided to start a little earlier than November, the traditional month for NaNoWriMo. I also learned that yesterday marked the beginning of National Pony Writing Month (NaPoWriMo), so my thinking is that why I don't I kill two birds with one stone and write 50,000 words worth of pony-related stories! As of today, I have three writing projects lying around, including my overly ambitious Citizen Luna story. Now comes the hardest part, which is to get writing!
